7 Simple Fall Decor Ideas!

simple fall decor ideas

Even though summer is my favorite season of the year for vacationing reasons, fall is a close 2nd. There’s just something about the changing of the leaves, the crisp and fresh cold air, fuzzy socks, leggings, and pumpkin spice that make me adore this season. Maybe it’s because it feels like fall here 9 months out of the year.

Born This Way: My Newest Show Addiction

Born This Way: My Newest Show Addiction

I am not going to lie… I was afraid of possibly having a child with down syndrome since it’s the most common form of genetic birth abnormality with the odds being 1 in 700 births. And since I am over the age of 30, those chances are even greater with age.

If it had happened, I honestly wouldn’t know how I’d handle it, or know how I’d make life better for that precious little life whom has an extra chromosome. But after watching Born This Way, my fears have pretty much gone out the window.

If you’re going to watch any reality TV show, watch this docu-series that follows the lives of 7 young adults with down syndrome.  You’ll be laughing, you’ll be crying and you’ll be inspired.

“Don’t Limit Me” the whole premice of the show.

That’s exactly what I probably would have done if I hadn’t watched the show because I just didn’t know any better. I now realize that people with down syndrome can lead healthy, and relatively normal lives.

Every new episode I am cracking up because the cast is not afraid to speak their minds.

Like for instance, John the aspiring rapper was buying a corsage for his date and asked how much they were.

“$20”, said the customer service worker.

His jaw dropped. Do you know how many chicken wings I could buy at KFC with that? He is quite the character, but so are the rest of the cast members.

Go watch it if you have the same fears as I did. You will love it, I promise you.

This is not a sponsored post. I felt so touched by this show, I just had to share.

New Niece Paisley Has Made Her Appearance

New Niece Paisley Has Made Her Appearance

Yup, there’s a new one every couple of months! Ha

She arrived safely on October 5th and is a healthy 8lbs 1oz, which is her biggest yet.

Look at that cute little chunky face.

I was hoping she’d come out looking more like my sister since most of her kids look like their dad, but I guess our genes are not powerful enough since most of our families girls look like their dads.

I cant even remember my baby girl being that little and it was only 17 months ago.

I’ve been contemplating whether I should or shouldn’t have another kid myself. I feel like I have angry post partum. Not so towards my daughter, but my husband. I’m pretty sure it’s still steming from hormones and me not liking him going out often or playing video games while I get to sit at the house with our daughter. I feel like mostly everything has changed for me and nothing has changed for him. He’s toned down a bit since I told him I’m tired of him running off to play video games upstairs when he could be enjoying that time playing with his daughter. All I know is that if things don’t tone down more, I wont be having another baby. And he knows this.

Anyone else ever had angry post partum at their husbands?

1-2-3 Grow and Learn Program for Vancouver School District in WA State

1-2-3 Grow and Learn Program for Vancouver School District in WA State

I was scrolling through facebook one day and noticed one of the people I’m friends with was tagged in a post about this 1-2-3 Grown and Learn program, so of course it peaked my interest and I began looking it up.

They have this class for birth-5 years everyday through the school year, but each day it’s at 2 different schools in the Vancouver School District. One being at 9 am, and the other at 1 or 2pm depending on school. But, both go for 1.5 hours.

And no, unfortunately you don’t get to dump and run for an hour and a half break. You stay there with your child to interact and promote learning and play time with other kids.

I knew this would be fun for Arya since she’s stuck with me everyday with little to no interaction with other kids besides her cousins occasionally. And let’s just say, a couple of them are not what I want her learning from. They can be holy terrors!

I invited my youngest sister along since she has a daughter who is 6 months younger than Arya.

We went over to the elementary school closest to me at 9am, which happens to be where I went from 3rd-5th grade. Only it’s been remodeled and moved to the other side of the street.

In the program, they read a couple quick books that were interactive, and sang a couple songs we didn’t know. Kids also got up and did show and tell with toys they brought. And of course Arya got right up there and wanted to grab their toys. She was such a character and the only child up running around. She’ll learn eventually though.

After that, the teachers got out buckets of beans and let the kids play in them with scoopers, etc.
I knew Arya would love that since she enjoyed her time playing in the sand at the beach, which I feel is pretty similar, only less invasive. Lol

When they were putting those up, Arya didn’t want to stop of course since she was having too much fun.

Then, we washed the girls up and they gave all the kids some goldfish cracker snacks. Wmma loved it so much, she was going around trying to take everyones crackers.

Arya just wanted to play with everyone and kind of be the center of attention. She’s just like her dad in so many ways. I see it as a good thing though, because she’ll pull the shyness out of me and won’t allow me to be reserved.

She was such a character and had me cracking up though.

I’ll have to take her to more classes. One of the teachers said Harney Elementary had more toddlers in their group, so maybe I’ll head there next!

Do you have any programs like this in your area, and have you seen any benefits from it?

Fall Coffee Mugs on Etsy

It’s that time again!

Fall is in the air, the leaves are changing and pumpkin spice has already begun!

I wish I had more hours in the day to create coffee mug designs, but my time is occupied by a needy toddler and chores. I think I need to hire a maid for a day every couple of weeks since cleaning is such a drag! Lol

If you love fall and coffee as much as I do, then you’ll love these fall coffee mugs on Etsy.

You may not like this one if you’re one of those weird people who loathes pumpkin anything. I mean, who doesn’t love pumpkin spice lattes!? Oh yeah, my weird friend Jennifer!

What’s the craziest Pumpkin Spice product you’ve seen?

This is one of my favorite movies to watch on TV everytime Halloween rolls around. Hocus Pocus is a Halloween classic!!

I’m contemplating putting different quotes with the Sanderson sisters image. So if “I put a spell on you” doesn’t exactly suit your fancy, I can accommodate others as long as the quote fits.

What’s your favorite Halloween movie?

The pumpkin king is here! I love Tim Burtons’ Nightmare Before Christmas and would love to live just like Jack and Sally.

I bet most of you can relate with the nightmare before coffee

I’m usually grumpy and sluggish until I get my daily dose of caffeine.

I’ll be doing a coffee recipe post coming up soon, so be on the lookout for that.

You can find these coffee mugs, plus a variey of others over at my Jenn Makes it Cute Etsy Store.

Have an idea in mind? Let us know.
