How to Host an Inexpensive Super Bowl Party

How to Host an Inexpensive Super Bowl Party

Last year we hosted a super bowl party because our Seahawks went. We’ll probably be doing it again since they’ve made it yet again! The first team in 10 years to do a back to back super bowl. So Awesome! The game was so stressful, yet so exciting. I think my husband and I went through every emotion imaginable yesterday.

How to Host an Inexpensive Super Bowl Party

When I did my Seahawks themed super bowl party, I pretty much avoided the expensive NFL licensed products. I did end up picking up a set of plates that said Seahawks on them just for the hell of it at Walmart, which wasn’t too overly priced (under $3) But for the most part, I grabbed green and blue plates, napkins and silverware at Walmart which were $1 each.

We had the party be potluck style, so people brought a little something to help lessen the costs, but honestly, it ended up being too much food anyways. Make sure you’re not over doing it with however many people you have invited. Some examples of what we had: Chips and dips, mini weenies, pinwheel sandwiches, deviled eggs, cupcakes, crackers-cheese-salami tray, brownies, cookies, jello shots, skittles vodka, beer, soda etc. Go for more simple snack items, it will lessen the costs. Also, don’t be afraid to use coupons! You should be able to find sales and stack your coupons with them during the first week before Superbowl.

DIY decorations: I wasn’t about to spend a fortune on NFL themed decor, so I opted to do some myself. I bought a few poster boards at the Dollar Tree and printed out photos and glued them on. I also had a bunch of construction paper so I cut out some bubble letters to stick on the Feed the Beast board and then borrowed my friends hot glue gun and glued skittles onto the board since that is Lynch’s game day power booster. I had mostly everything on hand to decorate the boards with: crayons, markers, glue, scissors, paper, printer, picmonkey app etc.

Evites: Send invites out on Facebook or through email. Don’t waste money on mail invites when most if not all of you are on Facebook anyways. And who doesn’t have an email address?

Don’t worry about brand name products. Buy off brand if that means a significant savings. Your guests won’t care and everyone’s happy.

Do you have any other tips for how to host an inexpensive super bowl party?

And who are you going to be rooting for!?

I Love My Hawks

We’re back from Seattle after watching the Seahawks beat the Panther’s like it was nothing! When we got to the stadium of our section, we’re walking up the multiple stairs and realize hey, we’re at the very back of the stadium. hah. Didn’t realize our seats were so crappy, but that still didn’t stop us from enjoying the game.

We didn’t get drowned in a torrential downpour like last years playoff game where we ran into sideways rain and wind so that was awesome. You just never know what the weather is going to do since the weatherman are never correct. Was still about 42 degrees that evening but we were bundled up, so all was good. Just slightly cold.

I didn’t get a chance to do anything else like visit the pike place since I’ve never been there, but we didn’t really have too much time if we wanted to make it back to Vancouver at a decent time or the funds really after spending a crap ton just for the game and eating out. Maybe next time.

We were going to attempt to get tickets to the championship game, but apparently there were only 1200 available at Century Link box office only. No online or telephone orders at Ticketmaster. So dumb! If only we could get on the list for season tickets or blue pride, that would be amazing. But unfortunately there’s a many years’ wait list.

Onto the next boys, let’s shred some Packer cheese and do a Superbowl #repete!

Seahawks Are in the Playoffs and We’re Going AGAIN!

Today we’re heading up to Seattle to cheer on our Seattle Seahawks in the play off game against the Panthers. I know we got this game with how well we’ve been playing against teams that are way better. I was honestly shocked we were able to score Seahawks tickets again since it was giving us so much trouble finding any. I refreshed a few times, made sure to select the 300 level section since those ones seem to be the only ones available anyways and found 2! My husband couldn’t get through, so he’s lucky I made it home in time after my dental appointment. Although, technically it would have saved us $348 dollars if I were to miss it. They were definitely cheaper last year, but, I kind of expected them to raise the price after they won the Super Bowl.

This is an evening game on Saturday, so it’s going to be kind of cold (43 degrees) and more than likely rainy. I mean, after all, it is the pacific northwest. I just hope my prego butt stays semi warm and comfortable or I’m going to be all whiny. I also hope I don’t have to deal with drunk idiots like the last playoff game where people were cutting in front me in the bathroom line because they think they’re more entitled to get in there and out. If they make me piss my pants since I can’t hold it for long, I’ll be smacking some drunkies. Hopefully my husband will be standing with me to take care of any nonsense that should arise. Seems like every fan base has their idiot following, I just don’t want to deal with them, especially now that I’m all hormonal.

So if you’re not a Seahawks fan, I am sorry, but we got this in the bag. 😛

Pregnancy Updates

Pregnancy Updates

Nothing new here to report on pregnancy since everything is going as smoothly as possible so far which I am thankful for. Can’t believe we’re almost down to only 14 weeks left. Time seems to be flying by. I’ll have to do another one Thursday when we hit 26 weeks.

My pelvic area will sometimes hurt though, but that’s normal I hear cause it’s beginning to open more to make way for baby. But, it does make for an uncomfortable sleep when you toss and turn and/or walk.

I am feeling intense itching on my legs of all places. Not sure if it’s because of winter dry skin or if it’s related to pregnancy, but it’s driving me bonkers! I feel like I have scabies or something. lol

Other than those minor nuisances, I’ve been okay though.

I finally got around to finishing up Dragon Age 2 and bought the 3rd when it was on sale for $39.99, so I’ll get to start that soon. I figure I might as well finish some games I’ve put off while I’m pregnant and can’t go out. I bought my Wii U, (free might I add) plus some games all just for participating in the Best Buy Wolf Program. I love it! Next thing I’ll be saving up for is a TV, or maybe a PS4 so I’ll have it when Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out at the end of the year. Although, I don’t see myself gaming too much with a new baby, so maybe I’ll just stick to the TV and make the hubby get the ps4. hah.

We have so many things to do before baby gets here, I have a feeling it’s all going to be put off till the last minute then we’ll be in a cram to get it done. I want to get the babies room painted a seafoam green color and decorate with seafoam green, pink and white. It will pretty much match the theme of my baby shower my friend is throwing me.

Can’t wait to get all of this started, but hopefully, first, our master bathroom will be worked on soon so that can be finished up. Unfortunately, hubby’s friend who is doing it hurt his leg so it’s put off a little longer but it should only take a week max. Hopefully, he heals quickly.

Home Made Pumpkin Muffins Recipe!

Since I made my husband pumpkin pancakes the other day, I decided to make some pumpkin muffins because I had quite a bit of pumpkin leftover that I didn’t want to go to waste. I mean, who doesn’t love pumpkin and/or muffins, especially when you put them together? YUM!

[amd-zlrecipe-recipe:1]

I like to slice them in half and put a little butter on each side after they come out of the oven. So good!

You can even heat them in the microwave the next day to warm them a little for about 15 seconds. Don’t want to do it for too long or they’ll dry out and become hard. And no one likes a hockey puck muffin!
