Week 5 on Nutrisystem #NSNation Program

I thought I was going to do horrible this week while on Nutrisystem, since I went out again and had a couple drinks at the bar, along with a chipotle chicken wrap and a side salad. I don’t feel too guilty about this, since I was having a very stressful day dealing with some family issues and needed to get out of the house and not worry about that disaster for at least an hour or two.

Aside from all of that, I also came down with a cold so I wasn’t eating as frequently as I should since I was afraid of my nasal leakage getting into my food. I seriously could not plug or blow my nose enough to stop it from being a pain in my rear-end!

I do have to say though, that so far my favorite lunch/dinner meals have been the Mexican style ones like, Tortilla soup, chicken tacos and the chicken quesadilla. I plop some salsa on top of the last 2 and its delish! I am partial to Mexican food anyways, so this was a no-brainer with me actually digging them.

Next week, I plan on getting out and walking everyday for at least 15 minutes. If it was warmer, I would probably do it longer, but I hate being cold.

I still have not found an elliptical that is crying out to me, so until I start incorporating cardio into my routine, I will continue to see these snail like improvements each week.

On a greater note, some of my pants that were starting to cut into my stomach are now fitting much better and are becoming a little bit baggy. Almost time to buy a size smaller and I cannot wait!

Week 4 on Nutrisystem #NSNation Program

This weekend I went on a little trip to the beach to hang out with the fam, and I knew I would be led into temptations of eating unhealthy if I didn’t pack along my Nutrisystem food. We did end up going out to dinner at Sizzler and I made sure I checked over all the calorie information, as well as what I shouldn’t and should stay away from there. Obviously the deep fried onion rings were a no-no at the salad bar area. So I decided to go with the unlimited salad and had everything that I could remotely think of as being healthy with about 2 tablespoons of ranch. For some reason they did not have light anything. I also ended up having grilled vegetables along with 1 Malibu chicken. Normally I would have ordered 2 before this diet, but I knew I needed to continuously control my portions in order to see results, plus, 1 of them was about 330 calories, so I figure adding in the salad and vegetables I am probably pushing around 500 or a little more for dinner. This was acceptable to me and was a much better option than putting in over a thousand calories a meal from a fast food restaurant. Have you seen their new menus with the calories listed beside them? Wow, that was a real eye opener for me. Now I know why I have gained 40lbs over the last 6 years.
The next day, we were all out shopping at the outlet mall and got a bit hungry, so we decided on the McMennamins there. I knew they would have options for me to eat without feeling guilty so I went ahead and tagged along. I ended up choosing the half turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread, which had purple onions, a slice of Swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce and a little bit of cranberry relish with a side salad. It was delish! I figured after getting home, my scale was going to read that I was a pound or two over, but I was wrong. I woke up to 1.6lbs loss for the week and I am thankful that my dedication to this has changed the way I think about food. I have the willpower to say no to greasy pepperoni pizza, even though it may be cheaper or taste better, but I will not sacrifice my body anymore to indulge in high calorie, bad food.

Week 3 on Nutrisystem #NSNation Weight Loss Program

Week 3 on Nutrisystem #NSNation Weight Loss Program

I can’t believe it’s been 3 weeks so far while being on Nutrisystem. Seems like the time is flying by fast, but I guess it does that regardless.

This week, I didn’t lose any real weight until I woke up on the scale today and noticed a 1lb drop. The whole entire week, I was only down .4lbs and I was following the meal plans religiously. That was until the Superbowl was on. We had a UFC party the night before, so we had leftover food that surely couldn’t go to waste since my boyfriend can’t eat it all, so I decided to dig in but knew I needed to control my portions. My boyfriend was giving me grief the entire time while I had a couple of appetizer wraps (turkey & ham with lettuce, tomato, cheese and a dab of cream cheese), since they weren’t the Nutrisystem food. I said as long as I learn to not overeat, which this program teaches you, then I should be fine. So I rubbed it in his face this morning when I woke up to a 1lb loss. As long as I keep doing what I am doing, I should be down to my goal weight in 5 or 6 months if I keep averaging over a 1lb a week.

I cannot wait until I start to feel comfortable in my own skin again!

I’m Almost Down 10lbs!

So far while being on Nutrisystem, I have lost 9.6lbs. Not exactly the huge accomplishment that I would have expected while being on it for 3 weeks, but it is better than nothing for sure. Typically you only lose around 1lb a week on it anyways, so I guess I am “technically” ahead.

These 3 weeks have not been that hard really, since I think my stomach has shrunk and gotten used to the smaller correctly portioned meals. I am no longer feeling hungry through out the day like I was on week 1.

AND OMG, the peppermint cookie patties are simply to die for. I never thought any of the desserts on a diet regimen would actually taste normal. Now some have that weird aftertaste, like the caramel desserts, but this one is amazing. I had to place an order for 7 of those in my next batch of food for the month. If I could just order those for dessert each and every time, I would be in heaven, and losing weight while eating it would be mind boggling as it tastes too damn good to be true.

So that is where I am at as far as my weight loss goals. I need to step it up and start walking, but I find very little time to do everything during the day that has to be done, let alone adding exercise to the mix. I went elliptical shopping yesterday, but I am having a hard time finding something that is smooth, comfortable and under $600 price wise.

So if anyone has any recommendations of those, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below. I need all the help I can get!

Nutrisystem #NSNation: Week 2

I was on the Nutrisystem forum trying to meet new people, and one person told me not to expect to lose the same amount each week and to not worry if its lower than the previous. Well needless to say, she was correct. This week I have only lost 1.8lbs, and I ask myself, did I already hit a stalling point? Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to have lost anything, but I guess I expected it to be a little more.

I have noticed that my stomach has gotten more used to the smaller meals (which are correctly portioned for weight loss), and I no longer feel hungry throughout the day like I did my first week. This is to the point, where I almost forgot to eat my in-between meals, which I read can cause no weight loss, because you’re not getting the right amount of nutrition to keep your body going and burning those calories. I also slacked a little bit on the water. I was drinking copious amounts last week, so I need to buckle down and start drinking more this time around.

Whole Wheat Ricotta Crepes

I also had dinner plans with family on Thursday, and we ended up choosing Applebees, because I knew they had meals under 550 calories there. I was good and stuck with my original plan of eating light. I didn’t even order a drink, even though my boyfriend had a couple. I had the determination and willpower to say no to myself, which was kind of difficult.

I am now thinking that I need to incorporate exercise into this program, even though its not necessary in order to lose weight, but even so, I need it in order to build up the muscles in my back, since I seem to have problems with it every so often. So I am on the hunt for a good elliptical since we already have a weight lifting gym out in the garage. Anyone own one that has any recommendations of what is good and what is not?
