DIY All Natural Body Butter Salve for Dry Winter Skin

DIY All Natural Body Butter Salve for Dry Winter Skin

If you’ve reached this post then you know that most beauty products on the market aren’t good for the biggest and one of the most important organ; the skin. It’s the first thing that people notice about you. I’m not gonna lie. My skin texture leaves little to be desired. I have freckles which are caused from the sun so that means I have sun damaged skin. I was tired of using products with parabens, propylene glycol, paraffin, sodium lauryl sulfate, you know, the bad chemicals that absorb into your skin and cause all kind of issues like dry skin, hair loss, inhibit skin cell growth and cause possible cancer. Anything that I can do to avoid these conditions is a must in my book!

I am a little late getting this DIY all-natural body butter salve recipe for dry winter skin up, but now’s just as perfect time as any since it’s still winter and most of us are still dealing with dreaded dry skin.

My intentions were to make this more whipped, but since I incorporated beeswax, it turned the recipe into more of a salve which is still soft, but just a little more solidified.

What you will need:

Essential Oils for Dry Skin:

Instructions:

Combine the coconut oil, shea butter, sweet almond oil, beeswax pellets and hazelnut oil into a double boiler pot or just use a pan with water and stick a bowl on top (it’s what I do). Boil water in the pot below and stir as your ingredients melt together.

Once they are melted, give it a quick whisk and remove from stove and let cool on the counter.

When the oils have cooled off, add in your mixed blend of essential oils from your separate bowl. You will want to put in the freezer until it starts to solidify. Not so hard that it’s too hard to whip up. Check around 15-20 minutes.

Mix on high speed either in your stand mixer or with a hand mixer until you get a whipped/buttery texture. It may take a few minutes.

I then stuck them in 4 oz jars that I bought at Target in their dollar spot section at the beginning of the store. They were a $1 each and you can usually find different varieties/types year round.I am a chronic hand washer and when I do wash my hands and do dishes or take a shower the water is usually hot, which is hard on skin. But, I love hot water! I made some of this and applied it to my skin for a week and my hands no longer feel like sandpaper. It’s a godsend.

It will feel slightly greasy because of all of the oils, but it will absorb and your skin will thank you for it.
