I am not going to lie… I was afraid of possibly having a child with down syndrome since it’s the most common form of genetic birth abnormality with the odds being 1 in 700 births. And since I am over the age of 30, those chances are even greater with age.
If it had happened, I honestly wouldn’t know how I’d handle it, or know how I’d make life better for that precious little life whom has an extra chromosome. But after watching Born This Way, my fears have pretty much gone out the window.
If you’re going to watch any reality TV show, watch this docu-series that follows the lives of 7 young adults with down syndrome. You’ll be laughing, you’ll be crying and you’ll be inspired.
“Don’t Limit Me” the whole premice of the show.
That’s exactly what I probably would have done if I hadn’t watched the show because I just didn’t know any better. I now realize that people with down syndrome can lead healthy, and relatively normal lives.
Every new episode I am cracking up because the cast is not afraid to speak their minds.
Like for instance, John the aspiring rapper was buying a corsage for his date and asked how much they were.
“$20”, said the customer service worker.
His jaw dropped. Do you know how many chicken wings I could buy at KFC with that? He is quite the character, but so are the rest of the cast members.
Go watch it if you have the same fears as I did. You will love it, I promise you.
This is not a sponsored post. I felt so touched by this show, I just had to share.

Interesting. I’ve met a few people with Down’s over my life and have invariably found them to be much wiser and kinder than the average person.
